NDIS and Occupational Therapy
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a transformative program by the Australian government. It’s designed to offer personalized support and services to individuals living with disabilities. Through tailored funding, the NDIS empowers people to enhance their independence, well-being, and community participation.

Services in the NDIS Program
Assistive Technology (Assessment and Reporting)
Assistive technology involves the use of tools, devices, or equipment that assist individuals in performing tasks and activities that might otherwise be challenging due to physical or cognitive limitations.
We work closely with clients to assess their unique needs and abilities. Through careful evaluation, we identify suitable assistive technologies that can promote greater independence and participation in daily life. This might include devices such as adaptive keyboards, voice recognition software, mobility aids, communication devices, and more.
Our role extends to providing comprehensive reports that outline the recommended assistive technology solutions, their benefits, and how they align with the client’s goals and requirements.
Consideration for Non-Structural Home Modifications:
Non-structural home modifications involve making changes to a person’s living environment to enhance accessibility, safety, and overall functionality. This could include the installation of grab rails, accessible tapware, threshold ramps, and other adaptations that facilitate ease of movement and engagement within the home.
We collaborate with clients to assess their living spaces, understand their specific needs, and recommend modifications that support their independence and well-being.
Our expertise guides the selection and placement of these modifications to create a comfortable and inclusive environment that aligns with the client’s abilities and preferences.
Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Individualised Living Options (ILO) Considerations:
Supported Independent Living (SIL) refers to providing individuals with disabilities the necessary assistance and resources to live as independently as possible within their chosen community setting.
Individualised Living Options (ILO) involve creating unique living arrangements that align with an individual’s preferences, needs, and aspirations. This often includes forming smaller, personalized living communities where individuals can receive tailored support.
We work closely with clients to understand their goals, strengths, and areas of need. We collaborate with other professionals and service providers to develop personalised plans that address various aspects of daily life, including housing, transportation, healthcare, social engagement, and skill development.
1 on 1 Skill Building
One-on-one skill building is a personalised approach to enhancing a person’s abilities in specific areas. We work individually with clients to identify their goals and aspirations, whether they pertain to self-care, communication, motor skills, cognitive functions, or vocational pursuits.
Through tailored interventions, we provide guidance, training, and strategies that empower clients to develop and refine their skills. These sessions involve a collaborative approach, focusing on the individual’s strengths and challenges, and adapting strategies to match their learning style and pace.
Progress is tracked, and outcomes are regularly evaluated to ensure that the skill-building process is effective and meaningful for the client’s overall well-being.
